March Ends with Fishing Madness

Report Date: April 5, 2006

Jorge (pictured) and his partner Kevin taught me a lesson on trout fishing. I know this is a pictue of a sheepshead, but we were able to land over a 100 fish between (mostly trout) 2 days of fishing.

Can you imagine catching anywhere from 50 to 100 fish in one day? What if I told you most of these fish were trout, redfish and sheepshead. It's hard to believe but the end of March on up to April 5th has led to best fishing I have seen in years. Over the past 2 weeks my anglers were spoiled to some of the years best fishing. Trout were landed on everything form shrimp to topwaters and redfish were landed by the same.

With rising temperatures and light winds, sight fishing has not only been possible, it has been a sure bet.

This day of fishing was a family affair

This is the time of the year when the pelagic fish start showing up in our area. In recent weeks we have seen increasing numbers of mackerel, bluefish and even GIANT COBIA! I have seen 5 already this year, and 3 of them would've went 40 pounds or bigger. As big as the cobia have been, the trout fishing has been what has impressed me the most. On average the trout are running from 15 to 17 inches and gator trout exceeding 20 inches have been common sights on the crystal clear flats of Crystal River.

The fishing is going to continue to be chaotic and exciting. So if long drag screaming runs and tight lines is what your waiting for, give me a call today and tangle with some of the best fishing Florida has to offer.
