Nearshore Fly Fishing

Here along the Nature Coast we are extremely spoiled to have some of the best inshore/flats fishing found anywhere in Florida. However, our true secret is the fishery that lies just a few miles past our inshore flats.  Rocks, Reefs, Wrecks, and Humps are just a few of the structures that we target when fly fishing the near shore waters off of Crystal River and Homosassa.  It’s these virtually untapped waters where you will find some of the most speedy and acrobatic pelagic species found anywhere in our area.

Bonita, Jacks, Mackerel, Bluefish, Cobia, Tripletail, Snappers, and even Grouper are all targeted species when fly fishing the many structures scattered along Nature Coast.  Huge bait balls, diving birds, sky rocketing fish are all an everyday occurrences when targeting these near shore waters.  And it is not uncommon to fish schools of fish containing more that 1000 fish in a school.

Talk about a ton of fun!  The rush of running from feeding school of fish to feeding school of fish is an adrenaline rush like none other in the world of fly fishing.  The opportunity for multiple hook ups is a given and the only problem when fly fishing in feeding schools of fish is you just want to hurry up and get your fly back into the fray.

Can you imagine a 15lb Bonita crashing a popper?  How about a 30lb Cobia blowing your Clouser minnow out of the water?  These are some of the live experiences that occur from day to day along the near shore waters off of Crystal River and Homosassa.

So if this sounds like a trip that you would like to check off of your fly fishing to do list give Reel Florida Fishing Charters a call today.
